  • Seven groups choose Wichita as site for conventions

    WICHITA _ Seven organizations have chosen Wichita as the site for their conventions, Go Wichita Convention and Visitors Bureau officials said today. The conventions are estimated to bring about $4 million in direct revenue to Wichita, said John Rolfe, Go Wichita president and CEO. Expected attendance for the conventions, including a three-year commitment from the International Machine Quilters Association, is about 5,500 people. Read more

  • Marijuana field cleared

    Two men were hunting for a good spot for a deer stand last fall when they stumbled upon a patch of marijuana plants.They notified the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office, who along with agents from the Kansas Bureau of Investigation kept an eye on the plants for nearly a year.On Wednesday, authorities disposed of plants they estimated could produce enough weed to command millions of dollars in street sales.Read more
